Identification

  • Dark blue plumage
  • Bright yellow eyes

Distribution

South America: found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

Taxonomy

Placed in genus Diglossopis by some authorities.

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • D. g. tyrianthina:
  • Eastern slope of Andes of south-western Colombia (Narino) and eastern Ecuador
  • D. g.a glauca:
  • South-eastern Peru (Jun¡n) to yungas of western Bolivia (La Paz and Cochabamba)
