Identification
Male - predominantly yellow, solid black hood, wings and tail centre.
Female - drabber, greenish underparts, black hood.
Young birds are like the female, dark streaking on underparts, hood is not solidly black, especially on the throat.
Distribution
Southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to Indonesia.
Taxonomy
There are 5 subspecies.
Habitat
Open woodland tree canopy and cultivation.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects and fruit, especially figs.
It nests in trees and 2 eggs are laid.
