Identification
16-18cm (in addition to individual variation, there is also variation between subspecies in size).
Olive brown above, pale sides of head, white lores and eyering, buff-ochre below, white throat and belly.
Distribution
South America: found in central Andes of Colombia through Ecuador to extreme northern Peru.
Taxonomy
Boyaca Antpitta and Atuen Antpitta were formerly included in Tawny Antpitta.
Subspecies
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
High altitude scrubland and hedgerows as well as disturbed areas.
Behaviour
Can either hop or run.
Vocalisation
When singing will sometimes perch in the open.
