Identification
8.5cm. A tiny bird with a long tail.
- Drab greyish-brown head
- Short, stubby, broad-based bill
- Medium grey upperparts with brownish tinge
- Dull grey-brown, long tail
- Light grey chin and throat, mottled and bordered below with pale pinkish-buff
- Pale dull pinkish-buff underparts
Sexes similar. Juveniles not yet described but thought to be similar to adults.
Distribution
Endemic to the mountains of western and central Java, Indonesia.
A locally common restricted-range species.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Habitat
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montanes.
Found above 1000m, sometimes lower.
Behaviour
Diet
Feeds on insects.
Forages often in lower levels of forest, actively travelling in small flocks.
