Identification
Brownish olive on upperside except for grey head. Underside is mostly grey with darker greyish flanks and breast-band. Bill, eye-ring and legs are orange.
Similar species
Other Nightingale-Thrushes. Black-billed has dark bill and legs and a brownish breast-band. Ruddy-capped has orange on bill limited to lower mandible, dark legs, and has rufous on rear and top of head.
Distribution
Highlands of northern Mexico to northern Venezuela and Trinidad including Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama (only western half), Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. In the USA it has occurred twice in Texas (once at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge and once in Edinburg, Texas).
