Identification

• Grey
• Black and grey wings
• Narrow black eye stripe

Similar Species

It is found in the same areas as Suiriri Flycatcher, but can be distinguished by its proportionally smaller bill and broad bolder pale terminal tail fringe. It also has a different voice and has a distinctive wing and tail shivering display.

Distribution

South America: found in the Cerrado region of Central Brazil and adjacent eastern Bolivia.

Taxonomy

Only described in 2001. Before that it was assumed to be conspecific with Suiriri Flycatcher.
The inital scientific name was Suiriri islerorum, however it was later revealed that the type series of affinis (regarded as subspecies of Suiriri Flycatcher) actually refers to this species.

This is a monotypic species^[1].

Habitat

Savanna and grasslands with scattered trees.
