Identification

• Grey
• Black and grey wings
• Narrow black eye stripe

Similar Species

It is found in the same areas as Suiriri Flycatcher, but can be distinguished by its proportionally smaller bill and broad bolder pale terminal tail fringe. It also has a different voice and has a distinctive wing and tail shivering display.

Distribution

South America: found in the Cerrado region of Central Brazil and adjacent eastern Bolivia.

Taxonomy

Only described in 2001. Before that it was assumed to be conspecific with Suiriri Flycatcher.
The inital scientific name was Suiriri islerorum, however it was later revealed that the appropriate name was S. affinis. Later again, it was realized this was not a close relative of the other species in genus Suiriri (Suiriri Flycatcher) and it was transferred to genus Guyramemua.

This is a monotypic species^[1].

Habitat

Savanna and grasslands with scattered trees.
