Distribution
Australasia: found in Papua New Guinea.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- L. m. melaena:
- New Britain (south-eastern Bismarck Archipelago)
- L. m. bukaensis:
- Buka (Solomon Islands)
Habitat
Dry grassland, swamps, gardens and open forests.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of seeds and sugar cane seed heads.
