Distribution
From the Indian Subcontinent and Sri Lanka east to Thailand, southern China, Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Java and Borneo.
Taxonomy
Formerly included in Great Tit, together with Japanese Tit.

- P. c. caschmirensis: North-eastern Afghanistan to northern Pakistan and north-western India
- P. c. ziaratensis: Southern Afghanistan to northern Baluchistan and Pakistan
- P. c. decolorans: South-eastern Afghanistan (east of Kabul and south of the Hindu Kush)
- P. c. planorum: Northern India to Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and western Myanmar

Behaviour
Breeding
Breeds in all kinds of woodland (incl. in desolate taiga in far north) and in immediate proximity of man in parks and gardens.
Diet
Insects and seeds, suet, beech nuts etc.
