Turdus lawrencii

Identification

Brown upperside, paler brown underside with whitish central belly and vent, throat streaked white and dark. Male has yellow bill and eye ring, female has darker bill and narrower eye ring. Juvenile has small white spots on upperside, dark streaks on underside, and inconspicuous eye ring.

Distribution

Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia (only east of the Andes).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species1.

Habitat

Forests and swamps in lowlands to low mountains

Behaviour

Usually found in canopy or sometimes in mid story of the forest. Likes fruiting trees, where it eats both fruit and insects.
