Pacific slope of Ecuador and southern half of Colombia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Lower foothill elevation: damp to very wet forest and second growth with ravines or clearings.

Behaviour

Pairs of small family groups.

Diet

Attends army ant swarms.

Vocalisation

Has a distinctive and melodious ultra-high-pitched song.
