Dicrurus caerulescens

Identification

24cm. Dark grey upperparts, long and deeply forked tail. The Indian race D. c. caerulescens has a pale grey underparts, and is white from the belly down. One Sri Lankan race, D. c. leucopygialis, has white underparts restricted to the vent area and undertail coverts. The young bird is duller and have a brownish grey breast.


Distribution

India and Sri Lanka.


Taxonomy

Habitat

Open forest and well-wooded habitats.

Behaviour

It builds a cup shaped nest, placed in a tree; 2-4 eggs are laid.

The diet includes insects.
