Ordered early this past week and just received late this week really surprised there are some Amazon stickers partially peeled off the all beat up Zeiss factory box looks like they shipped using only the factory Zeiss box from Amazon previously.

Soft case looks brand new and binoculars looked extremely dirty dusty beat up never cleaned just like truck binoculars left naked without their case nor lens covers in a dusty pickup truck glovebox for the last five years. There's scratches and pressure and rub marks on it that doesn't look like will ever come off even if they're cleaned. It looks as though either Zeiss or whomever did not even inspect these binoculars prior to reselling these advertised in LIKE NEW DEMO condition prior to shipping them.

The image quality is unbelievably terrible. There's a lot of excessive obvious chromatic aberration with blue and purple color fringing and a whitish haze or fogginess to the view through. It is like looking through thin smoke or haze with purple and blue auras everywhere.

I simply cannot believe these actually used to sell for close to $1000 based on how bad the image quality really is.

its so bad I had to use my friends $50 Bushnell to compare to actually be able to level the playing field and the Bushnell is clearer with less chromatic aberration and no haze or fog.

Looking through from the opposite end there's no fog inside the lenses with minimal dust and debris but there's a slight blue hue noticeable which I found rather strange.

Contacted EuroOptic immediately and was told of I opt for a replacement, it might actually be in the same condition as they get these IN LIKE NEW DEMO condition straight from Zeiss just like the one I just received.

I also have a Zeiss Victory compact 10x25 which have a cheaper regular selling price that literally smokes this Conquest HD in sheer optical quality but have simlar terrible eyecups, well actually the Victory eyecups are even worse that don't even extend far enough nor even stay put for non glasses use.

It seems you are being over dramatic. Just return it for a refund. Or even better, send it back to Zeiss
and they will send you a new replacement. It is under warranty.

@ OneH.
Ignore the scare tactics and get a refund.

Just got off the phone with Zeiss customer service and was told it may incur a fee to repair since I didn't buy it direct from Zeiss and it sounds like wear and tear instead of factory defects regarding the cloudy optics.

I asked about a possible swap for a brand new one that's not all beat up and it seems as though it is not an option in this case based on the conversation.

I also inquired about replacement eyecups for the Zeiss Victory compact since the original ones don't extend far enough and was quoted $35 plus tax for a replacement pair.

They aren't Vortex that's for sure regarding warranty.

Going this route and was rather shocked that if I send them in to Zeiss I was just told by them on my own dime I might have to pay out of pocket to have them repair it not covered under their warranty.

Can you post pics? Just curious...

I don't understand this thread. Why should Zeiss cover this under warranty? Why is that "shocking"? When I buy a dinged-up VW from a seller on ebay and then ask VW directly to swap it for a new one -- does that sound normal? Would it be "shocking" if they didn't behave the way you want?
It's obvious why Vortex can afford a warranty where the item in question gets simply tossed and you get a new one. Because most of the binos that Vortex sells are cheap and disposable. BTW -- here in Germany you'd have to buy from their official webstore to even be covered by the "lifetime warranty" they offer.

The photos of the binocular are not too bad.

It may be that the outer wear doesn't show well in the photos.

The box looks beat up.

I cannot say what the binocular looks like inside or the view through it.

Best to get a refund and maybe trying to save money buying this way is not a good idea unless one can actually inspect the binocular before buying.

The comments about CA if accurate may suggest someone has opened the binocular and messed with it.

The binocular may actually be a reject bought cheaply and oversold.

I wouldn't think Zeiss rejects come from the factory, but other factory rejects may escape from different firms.

In the old days Zeiss smashed lenses that didn't meet their high standards with a hammer.
This encouraged the people making them to do better.

I bought factory rejects from a high end firm I worked for for 10% of the normal price, but I wouldn't sell them to anyone even if pretty good.
My heirs though, might, not know they were rejects.
Really bad rejects were smashed in the factory.
I saw this happening on a daily basis.

Really cheap Chinese binoculars have no quality control and some samples are awful, others good or acceptable.

Regards,
B.

Eurooptic is an authorized Zeiss dealer, so they should be covered under the Zeiss warranty. Personally, I wouldn't hassle with getting them repaired, and I'd send them right back to Europtic for a refund. I'd also ask them to pick up the tab for the return shipping because those are not "like new" binoculars and look like they've been used out in the field.
