Mounting a UVHD+ to a tripod (1 Viewer)

I guess at some point you have to decide whether to treat it like an art object or a tool. Legitimate arguments either way...
My concern was more regarding security than of cosmetic blemishes, but falling off is perhaps ultimately only a cosmetic blemish.

The Outdoorsman cap is a very precise fit over the end of the hinge, and the 3 set screws register in a deep groove. The cap isn't relying on just the friction of the set screws; because of the groove, all 3 screws would have to fail in shear. It's a pretty elegant solution.My concern was more regarding security than of cosmetic blemishes, but falling off is perhaps ultimately only a cosmetic blemish.

RRS Composite bino cinch on the Ultravid HD+ 12x50.
Works great. I thought it might be awkward with the offset mount but I don't even notice it in use.
For now I keep it on the bino. Strapping off is quite easy but remounting is a little awkward in the cold with my IPD as the barrels are essentially touching so I keep the RRS on.

I had the Leica adapter before, quite happy with it until the rubber latch broke off completely in regular use. Looked like new but sheared off.
I looked into getting one for the UVHD+ 12x50 but nowhere in stock over here and seems a bit hard to find. I would like to buy locally in case the rubber strap breaks again..

Where did it break off? The rubber seems to be one piece.
When it's windy I always have the binos straps in my left hand that holds the monopod. Since I've seen a Swarovski scope falling from a video head on a concrete floor in a hide (CLONK!) I'm much more careful.

Bought mine in 2020 and used it every birding day (hundreds) since then.
The rubber still is supple/flexible. When not in use I always keep it in a half-open plastic bag in my backpack. On a birding day it's mounted on my monopod that is strapped to the side of my backpack, so it's exposed to sun, wind and rain.
Did you store it a dry place? Or possibly, the weather plays a role, did you use it when it was freezing?

Hello, no, the disturbing thing is that it has been well looked after, indoors at a stable temperature, in a drawer so not subjected to temp variations or prolonged/everyday sunlight. 🤷🏼♂️
Usage was a dozen times during summer and autumn.
It did not feel dry, showed no signs of cracking. It just split open.
One thing that kept me from getting another one is that there is no way to tell how old the one I would be getting is or if my sample had been on a shelf ten years prior to me getting it.
I really liked it though. I did try to bungee cord it but the receiving ”hook” was to rounded/shallow for a secure fit. So I scrapped it.

That is a very nice looking setup and much to my liking for most all things compact. I'll keep this one in mind should I ever decide to make up a tripod arrangement.
Yes, originally I got this for a small binocular.
I was surprised at how well it works for the 12x50 on monopod/tripod.
Bino fits in the standard Leica cordura case with no snag.
I just leave it on for now. Removing it is very quick but reattaching it once removed takes a little wiggling. It is necessary to have it in the same place on a conical barrel, give or take just a little. After size adjustment there is very little room for other placement but I line it up to a seam on the armor so on the Leica 12x50 it is quite easy. I adjusted it so it is very snug but not too tight. Foot is Arca Swiss compatible so plenty to choose from for attaching it to various heads or mono/tripods.

I had a breakage on my original Leica adapter. It was replaced with an updated version with reinforcing ribs on both sides.
No further problems and I consider it to be the simplest and most stable solution for 32-50 mm roof prism binoculars.
I recently upgraded my monopod to a Sirui SVM 165. It has a one hand operation for extending the legs, and it works great.
Things that I like:
One handed operation, twist and drop/extend.
Wide foldable tripod base. *)
Quick release for all parts: head, tripod base and extender.
All can be removed and are compatible for use as stand alone units or in combination.
The tripod base is larger than on Manfrotto so standing the binocular is possible (but not recommended).
I also got the 30cm extender for it for additional height.
Rarely needed - but it weighs very little so I usually have it on so that I have shorter travel for the extension to working height.
Also the extender can be used as a table tripod with the tripod base.
On top is a tilt/panoramic head which supports up to 3kg and has a counterspring that works great for the 12x50's. It is a Smallrig with arca swiss connection so the RRS bino attachment slips on easily.
*) They just released a 35cm tripod base which has a foot pedal for the ball head socket. I might get that, I have use for both.
