Opticron Adventurer T WP 12x50 vs Celestron Ultima Porro 20x50 (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone!

I'm looking to buy an inexpensive (under AUD$300) set of binoculars with 12 or greater magnification and 50 or greater objectives, preferably Porro prism. I'd be setting them up on a tripod at home, for the local bird families and the many planes, ships etc going past. These would complement my existing travel pair of 10x32 Leica Ultravid HD+.

The major limiting factor is my inter pupillary distance which is small (definitely less than 55mm).

I was thinking of 2 options:

* the Opticron Adventurer WP 12x50, which apparently has an IPD down to 53mm.

* Celestron Ultima Porro prism 20x50 binoculars (note, Ultima, not the Upclose), which have impressively small min IPD of 50mm.

Does anyone have any experience of either of these models?

I read that the Opticron Adventurer WP in other sizes (eg 10x50) is well regarded, but the Amazon reviews of the Opticron Adventurer WP 12x50 report many problems with collimation. See Server Busy.

As for the 20x50 Celestron Ultima binoculars, they have hardly any online footprint. They have literally just 1 google review (4 stars) on the whole internet! Not much to go by.

I live in Australia so I can't "try before I buy" either of these.

Thanks!
