:-O:-O:-O You ask him, we had a brief chat about the lack of birds on Bottom Tank - apparently we just dipped on a Fox on the far bank.

.Oh! any sign of the slavonian grebe when you were there?.
You need your eyes chalking :-O:-O - i said in the main post that i saw the Slavonian Grebe - no chance of pics as it was at the far right hand side of Saltholme Pool - probably next to the Transporter Bridge :-O:-O Fortunately a nice bloke let me see it through his scope :t:

Lost specs at Trow Quarry

I travelled down from Edinburgh area on motorbike to see this bird today, but it was nowhere to be seen. Quite a few folk out hunting for it.

I left the quarry about 2:30pm and when I got home discovered I had lost my glasses. Thought I would post here in case anybody found them. In a silver metal case. Must have slipped out of my pocket. I tried phoning the Bamburgh Hotel but they don't have them, and the number for the Waters Edge doesnt work. Is there anybody on here from the area that could ask in there for me please.

Just they cost £165

Have reported to local police station.

Thanks ... and if the ECW turns up again don't tell me about it :-C

Bigyin- if anyone finds them i am sure some sort of contact will be made thro- bf. due to the amount of people who have watched the threads on here connecting to the Warbler...
Why try contacting the waters edge?(Mango,s now) .

Thanks m8, should be easy enough to spot down at the quarry. The box is at least 6 times bigger than a ECW :)

The phone number listed for Waters Edge doesn't work. Cant find a new number.

Woodcock

Usual walk this morning along the Leas, and disturbed a Woodcock from off the mound which flew away nw towards the Marine Park.

First of the year.

A few place vists

Thanks everybody for the great day out yesterday - highly recommended if anyone is thinking of coming on one of these trips. The nights out are just as good:t:B :) Doesn't matter what level of experience you have no one will think any less of you. I got 5 lifers yesterday and one was a house sparrow:eek!::eek!: Only joking about the sparrow - I think!!

The only down side was me pictures - they didn't come out too well. In fact they were crap after a slight problem with image quality. So I only kept a couple of record shots which are not good enough to put on here.

Trip to Edinburgh cancelled due to tomorrow's expected rain so made the most of a day off and went out this afternoon. Went to Trow Quarry first but not a lot in there except a stonechat and male blackcap. A few twitchers still turning up but no sign of the ECW.

Then went to the mound but again nothing but a single stonechat.

Loads of geese flying south with one skein containing over 100 birds.

Travelled on to Marsden old quarry and had a look around there mostly the usual tits, dunnock, blackbird, pheasant and magpie. I took the last shot of what I thought was a linnet but when I got it home discovered it looks more like a robin. Must give Specsavers a ring:-O:-O

Brian

Hi Brian - don't think your last shot is a Robin - the red breast normally goes right up the front of its face and over its beak and around its eyes. Your picture seems to have a white bit on the chin & throat area. I'd make a guess at Whitethroat, but as you know i'm no expert - perhaps one of the others will give a better ID.

:-O:-O:-O Reckon i've got nowt to worry about judging by Joanne's reply to my post. I think it will see you in traction and plaster for at least 8 months, by the time you are able to walk properly and have learned to talk again - you'll have forgotten this whole incident :-O:-O:-O
