Hey Ya'all,

We are full time RV'ers and are currently staying in an RV Park in Escandido California. There is a white bird that flies around here at night and makes a Clicking or Ticking sound. It's extremely loud and it's really irritating me that I can't identify it! I've been trying to record it's noise or photo graph it, but with no luck. Can anyone identify this mystery?

I just saw and heard something just like that, at night, past two nights, in the greater San Diego area, near where we had an owl box installed. We'd been hoping for some resident owls to join us here. Clicking and twittering really loudly and large white bird flying overhead in the complete dark. We are on a canyon. Very happy to see the above responses and the original post. Thank you!

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on BirdForum. :)

I have them around here but I've never had a chance to view them due to the time of night that I hear them. :(

I agree, barn owl. They make those sounds when mating and nesting. This is that time of year. They are white underneath and nocturnal - make exactly those sounds. Sounded like an old-fashioned typewriter. Was driving me crazy till I realized what it was. We have a new owl box and they were setting up housekeeping. :)
