Grafham Water (1 Viewer)

01 Apr 2025; still just two Yellow Wagtails on the dam plus two Swallows around the barns. Six Little Gulls flew east over the dam tracked from the western end. A Great Northern diver in the middle.

04 Apr 2025; approx 12 Little Gulls off Dudney Creek at midday. Five Garganey (3 males, 2 females) in Littless Bay. A Rock Pipit on the dam. Two Avocets and two Cetti's in the lagoons.AU0I4246c1.JPG

06 Apr 2025; five Little Gulls off Dudney hide, seven Yellow Wagtails and a Wheatear on the dam. Two Great Northern Divers still off Hill FarmAU0I4482c1.JPG

14 Apr 2025; 35+ Yellow Wagtails and two White Wagtails on the dam. Two Dunlin, two Common Sandpipers plus the usual dozen Little Ringed Plovers. Great Northern Diver and Common Tern off the fishing lodge. Of note the subadult Great Black backed gull still present; very little white in the primaries so gives it a Cape Gull appearance.....

18 Apr 2025; at least 50 Yellow Wagtails this evening on the dam plus a few White and a Grey. More interesting is a female type with features of 'Channel'/Blue-headed hybrid. Possibly a returning individual from last year seen on 13 Apr 2024 - see post 345

This bird is very grey overall when mixed with the Yellow Wagtails.
