We saw this beautiful hawk in our backyard. Is this an adult or juvenile and is it a Cooper Hawk. We have a dove nest and it was underneath.

The tail feathers vary in length, so it is a Cooper's Hawk. The underparts are not streaked, so it is an adult.

yes, basically only separable on size (females larger). If you see a pair together it is quite evident.
