Aragon - Quinto T.M (3 Viewers)

Hi

I'm planning a trip to north-east Spain in late-September/early October. We'll mainly be building human towers but we have 4 nights to get some birding in. We know the area reasonably well and have already booked a couple of nights in the Ebro Delta. We're thinking of a return to El Planeron and mucking about on the eBird Hotspots map I came across a place nearby, described as "Quinto T.M." that seems to be quite productive. Unsurprisingly it's in the small town of Quinto, south east of Zaragoza. Looking at maps isn't helping me much regarding access etc. Does anybody know the location who can give me some tips? We'll have a vehicle.

I did a couple of visits to Quinto in April 2017 whilst in the Zaragoza / El Planeron area. I don't know but suspect the T.M. hotspot may be for the whole town or area in general - I could be wrong though.

I did visit the two hotspots to the north west of the settlement along the Ebro - Mejana Capera & Galacho Quinones - on a couple of late afternoons / early evenings for a slow drive along the tracks and to sit and eat by the river. Well worth a visit for farmland and riverine species

I guess that T.M. stands for "Término municipal", that is, for the whole area around the village and under its rule, not just the town or village itself. It could be big, in this case it is around 120 km2. As it is in an area with quite diverse habitats: steppes, the Ebro river with some big meanders, orchards and agriculture plots, that mix may account for the high numbers in the hotspot. I guess that visiting those habitats around this village and the others around will yield good numbers. El Planerón in itself is closeby and a good bet for steppe species

Cheers both. That all makes sense. My thought was that it could be an interesting addition to El Planerón. I'll have a look into Mejana Capera & Galacho Quinones as well. A picnic by the river might be well received. I think we'll be birding for most of the 5 days so should have time to fit it all in.
