Hi folks,

No comment, just to say that the whole encounter lasted 1min 32secs according to my camera, and that I missed the shot of the 2nd bird arriving!

Bill.

Well captured Bill. They can be bullies can't they? I have one at the moment who won't let any other C.Dove even land in the garden, let alone feed, but what he comes squawking down and chases 'em off!!

Lovely, Bill. The CDs have only recently decided to frequent my garden again and they still don't stay around very long. It is good to have them back though.

Lovely capture Bill, well done. My pair of Collard Doves are starting to pay the odd visit also, though like you Wendy only staying for a quick visit.

Lovely shots Bill, I especially like the 2nd one which would also make a good caption shot some day. Ours CDs are just the same when one's on it won't let tother on as well.

Love, Sue.

we always get presumably the same 2 Collared Doves who seem to be in love because they just sit on the branch and kiss each other. They do try and land on the feeders but usually end up falling off

Lovely photos Bill:t: I have a feeder the same type as yours and I blame the fat C.D.'s for cracking the tray:'D and breaking it! The weight must have been too much:-O

Best Wishes

Aww how funny Bill.
My CD's kiss a lot too, (and squabble!) come to think of it, has anyone ever noticed baby CD's?
Great pics Bill, well caught.

Hi pat,

Pardon?

These are different ones taken at different times. I've got lots more!

Bill

Hi Bill

Nuttery feeders work for me. If there are any non-steel bits exposed they chew through them - wire, polycarbonated tubes etc. They also seem to be able to get inside the globe feeders. I'm thinking about those metals feeders that are weight-activated. Sorry, didn't mean to divert your thread.

Lovely pics Bill and regarding CD's.They are so common here and have always been a regular visitor to our garden. At the moment we have around 30 per day and the first thing you notice is, how peaceful they are NOT.No pics of them being nasty though ha ha.

Hi Mary Evelyn,

That's more than try to cram onto our bird table at a time, probably because I don't put food on it, just use it for hanging feeders. We get them on the ground mainly as I put out maize.

Around 30 or so is our usual number but recently it dropped to about 8-10 and is now building up again. Here's a shot from a couple of days ago with 21 on that part of the wires and there were another 6 or so over the garden. The wires are a mixed blessing as they use them for queuing which usually means that we don't get the whole lot in the garden at once; I only count those on the ground and trees/garden bits etc and on the wires OVER the garden as being IN.

Bill.

:hi:
Belated greetings from Brussels to all my friends - sorry about my long absences, due mainly to WORK pressure... sigh... :-C

Bill, those are GREAT photos - and I'm lost in admiration for Mary's throngs of CDs !!! :t:

Kits, it's the same with us - we only ever get one pair of CDs - and they are SO shy... bless 'em! I've never seen any strife between 'em, so they must be happily married... o:)

The pigeons/doves that are feisty over here are the Woodies and the Ferals. The Ferals seem to go in for serious neck wrestling; I'm sure they must injure each other sometimes...:eek!:

With the Woodies, however, it's just a lot of bowing and "mooning" each other, edging each other off a ledge, and spectacular -not to say noisy! - wing flapping fights. It's a daily ritual with 'em - a display while we're having our breakfast, then another bit of a "do" at lunchtime, and the Big Number at cocktail hour. Who needs TV, eh? :-O Let's face it, there's a lot less Sex and Violence on TV than what goes on in our own back garden... ;)

Warmest wishes to all my friends on BF, and bisous for you, dear Bill -
Chanteuse
