Fujifilm HS50 EXR has arrived !

Thank you very much for the advise/help much appreciated!!!! I finally got out on Sunday for an hour or so (with some nice sunlight), and I played around with the aperture setting. Obviously a lot of era but a couple of nice shots. This Blue Tit was easily my favourite!

Fujifilm HS50 EXR has arrived !

Shot on program mode, I basically adopted my hs10 settings, but as you say it's "a different beast"! Unfortunately, I've been unable to use the camera all week again, hopefully tomorrow!! Some impressive photo's in the 'flickr' group, thanks for the link!! Have you tried the EXR mode at all?

The hard frost this morning, brought this lady back for the first time in over a year!!

Fujifilm HS50 EXR has arrived !

Well I finally joined the HS50 club last week, after deciding to sell my trusty HS10. Managed to get out with it today, for an hour or so, even though it was extremely dull and grey, not ideal for first impressions and unlike yesterday which was wall to wall sunshine, typical!!. Obviously it is...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Happy New Year all! A garden first this morning, 2 Redpoll, a male and a female, great start to the New year! Unfortunately I've just sold my HS10, so I couldn't get a shot or 2!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Hello, not been on in ages, but always watching the garden! My garden is thriving at the moment, the Finches have finally found us after nearly 2 years in this property! Thirty plus Goldfinch, 10 plus Greenfinch a scattering of Chaffinch. Actually looking forward to the Winter now! Obviously...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Some great posts and pics!! A song thrush was the highlight of the day here! It's only the second time I've seen one in this garden. Of course the resident male blackbird did his best to make it feel very unwelcome!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

My garden had seen a big increase in bird numbers during the early winter months, so I was expecting a feeding bonanza with this cold spell! Alarmingly though, it is very quiet, numbers have decreased somewhat (had around 20 goldfinch just over a week ago,now maybe 2 or 3) despite heavy snow! :-C:-

Spoke to soon (as per usual)! A garden first, male Reed Bunting just came into the garden!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Despite nearly 3 days of lying snow my garden has been rather quiet! I had more birds visiting during the first half of January, when it was very mild/wet! Still this cold doesn't look like it is going anywhere too soon, could be an interesting garden watch on the 26th/27th!

    Peanuts?

I've only just put up a peanut feeder, first one in years! I made it more out of boredom, it does get used, but is by far the least used food source in the garden! Tits tend to use it when they cannot get access to the suet.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Thanks, I've actually just upgraded it! This is my new lard/suet feeding station, which I have put up solely for the Winter. As you can imagine the Starlings are very happy indeed!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

With the weather getting colder over the last week or so, it has driven the 'Great Spotted Woodpeckers' back into the garden, both a male and female! Also had a male Blackcap, which is a first for me in this garden. Had an influx of Chaffinches as well, which is nice as they are a bit of a...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Hello guys been a while since I've been online! Garden is now very busy as we approach Winter! Had our first real frost yesterday, and to my amazement we enticed a female GSW on to the suet feeder, first one for this garden! Amazingly, a male showed up today, and I was able to grab a quick...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

The Wrens have moved on (after moving in around April), looks like they successfully catered for 2 broods as well! Here are a couple of snaps I managed.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Decided to put up the suet feeder yesterday, which I don't normally do in the Summer. Amazingly, this morning, I have been inundated with Longtailed Tits around 6 of them, they've been backwards and forwards all morning. I hope they hang around for a bit as they've been somewhat of a rarity...

Great capture! Unfortunately, I had a successful Female Sparrowhawk in my garden yesterday, I say unfortunate because it killed one of the few greenfinch that visit.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

A new bird for my garden over the weekend, a siskin. In fact two visited, one on the sunflower hearts feeder and the other on the niger. Also had 2 juvenile greenfinches over the weekend as well. Joining them were juvenile starlings, House sparrows and Blackbirds, busy garden the last day or so!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

I regularly see Dunnocks and Robins use seed feeders, but I've never seen a blackbird, so this is a first for me!!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Been living at this new address for around four months now so we have a steady influx of Garden birds visiting each day. Finch numbers seem to be gradually creeping up, 4 Greenfinch and 4 Goldfinch this morning on the Sunflower Hearts feeder. A Wren is nesting in the garden, which is fantastic...

    Birds in my garden

For Goldfinches, put out sunflower hearts via a feeder (if you haven't already), or niger seed via a feeder! When I had over 20 goldfinches visiting my feeders (at my previous address) they very rarely went to the hanging basket (bird-table), even though it was full of sunflower hearts. I'd...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Well it took around a month but result! I had 3 goldfinches visit this morning, 2 on the niger and 1 on the sunflower hearts, hopefully they will return and bring reinforcements!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Been away for a while (been busy moving home) so a belated Happy New Year to all! Anyway, my new garden (which needs a lot of work) is far more bird/wildlife friendly than the last (hedges, conifers, birch, ivy etc), neighbor is even a keen birder and gardener! As such I already having a steady...

    Winter Wish List

I would really like to see some Long-Tailed Tits this Winter, never had them in the garden before! I'd also like to see some Chaffinch, believe it or not I've only ever seen 2 in the garden. I'm hoping the GSW and Reed buntings return too!

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Busy weekend up here, the hordes of Goldfinch (with a sprinkling of Greenfinch) have completely cleaned me out of sunflower hearts! I'm going to start buying bulk from now on, especially if I'm going to be feeding up to 40+ Goldfinch, sick of paying £2 (plus) per kilo!!! The local male...
