Very busy at the bird feeder today! (8 Viewers)

Early yesterday morning I was very surprised to see a pair of Eastern Bluebirds checking out a birdbox outside our living-room window. The box is in totally the wrong type of habitat for Bluebirds, plus it seems too early to be thinking about nesting.

Fabulous bird - what a lovely shade of blue! If only there were Bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover!

Nice shots of the Mealys, BFB - great photos to educate those on the ID forum:t: Hope they hang around for your 2014 list.

A Goldcrest and 6 LTTs this afternoon were today's highlights.

Yesterday was a great day for watching birds in our yards. Most of the birds were the same as previously with some small changes in numbers:
2 White-winged Dove
1 Red-bellied Woodpecker
2 Downy Woodpecker
1 Blue Jay
1 Northern Mockingbird
4 Northern Cardinal
3 Carolina Chickadee
2 Carolina Wren
3 Tufted Titmouse
1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Orange-crowned Warbler
2 Yellow-rumped Warbler
4 American Goldfinch.

However, the third of our winter warbler trip - Pine Warbler - also appeared.

The high point came in the afternoon when a mixed flock of sparrows turned up: 12 House Sparrows and 15 Chipping Sparrows. It was funny to watch two such different birds feeding together on seed I'd put out along our back fence.

3 Mealy Redpoll this afternoon. 2 extremely white ones and on that is ever so slightly darker. Eventually a Sparrowhawk sent everything flying in all directions and non returned since. Some "Ropey" images to come shortly.

They are good shots Dave!! Thanks for the visit yesterday. Are you free for a visitor tomorrow if they turn up?

PS Bittern again at Budworth this a/noon

Nice shots of the Mealys, BFB - great photos to educate those on the ID forum:t: Hope they hang around for your 2014 list.

You and me both!!

Happy New Year all! A garden first this morning, 2 Redpoll, a male and a female, great start to the New year! Unfortunately I've just sold my HS10, so I couldn't get a shot or 2!

What a miserable day weather wise, only managed 16 species in the garden with the highlight being 6 Lesser Redpoll that showed for about 30 seconds.

Better weather here meant I got 17 in the garden with highlights being a Treecreeper, Redpoll and a welcome return of a GSW. Also 7 LTTs and a Goldfinch.

No sign of the Redpolls (either sp) since Jan 1st so looks like they have all moved through. unseasonal mild weather making my garden pretty quiet, however a Redwing and Pied Wagtail the highlights this morning
