    Shorebirds Jamaica Feb 2020

Just to translate: "Grey Plover" is Brit for "Black-bellied Plover."

    Northern Minnesota - 2 mysteries

Agreed. This looks like a Sharp-shinned to me.

Sandpiper from Ushuaia (Argentina) in November

I have a real problem with the front bird being a White-rumped, with that perfectly straight bill and warm tones to head and chest. It's certainly a first-cycle beastie and I cannot see a juv White-rumped wearing to buff. The whitish super also doesn't bother me for Baird's (see here).

    Sparrowhawk or Peregrine?

The eye is pale, which rules out virtually all falcons.

    canada - BC

Western Tanager seems fine for #7; it seems to have at least one pale wing bar, the bill seems hefty, the tail is notched and lacks the yellow tail spots of Yellow Warbler. I cannot think of any better candidate from that area.

    Warbling Vireo ?

Tennessees do not have long bills with blueish base to the mandible and do not have the supercilium cut off so abruptly immediately behind the eye, among other features inconsistent with Tennessee and other warblers.

    Brown crested Flycatcher? Arizona USA

Assuming that the photo was taken recently, it's a bit early for Brown-crested, and perfect timing for Ash-throated. And, yes, the bill looks too dainty for BCFL. And the top side of the tail is not all that useful in Myiarchus...

    African collared Dove? Arizona USA

The tail pattern is right for Eurasian, wrong for African.

They look perfectly fine for TKs.

    putative American Herring Gull, Devon

I don't know European Herring Gulls at all, but this bird would not cause any sort of heart-beat rise on the US East Coast.

    Coastal NC, new feeder visitor

If you can stand the hordes, you might put the word out about your Western Tanager, as there will be birders that will like to see it.

    Great Norther Diver/Common Loon? (England)

Whereas in most of North America, most birders are quite happy to have a loon other than GND/COLO.

    Red-tailed Hawk? Kentucky

Wing shape in a static image can vary widely in all bird species as they react to air (flow, eddies, speed) and the task at hand (see here). Well, maybe not in Kiwi, but I don't know about that, but I hear that they don't fly much. The overall shape presented over time is more important.

Peregrine or Kestrel? Nampa, Idaho, USA

My impression of the bird is that it's a Merlin. It looks far too small relative to the utility pole to be a larger falcon (see here). [Nota bene: The small size also rules out any non-falcon that the appearance might match, particularly Rough-legged Hawk/Buzzard.] Additionally, the blond-headed...

    Dunlin? Sanibel Florida 1/12/19

Dunlin has a stripe of dark splitting the pale rump and upper-tail coverts.
