    3 waxwings showing well this morning 9.00 to 10.15 in and around the area opposite the Leisure Centre, especially amongst the OAP housing to the North. They were chased of by jackdaws, crows and a sparrow hawk which spooked everything. They returned willingly, landing in trees above me! But...

    Loads of birders turned up through the day with not a sniff. Me and Sian were there between 12 and 1(the noon lull) with only the mistle thrush to look at. My luck needs to change

    I couldn't find them anywhere between 1.30 and 3.00, in Ebbw or Brynmawr. Can somenone say where they saw them in Ebbw Vale?

    Crows, jackdaws and magpies after bread in the garden. Usual small birds, plus the siskins turned up today. Single brambling amongst a dozen chaffinch. A few ringed birds about, but as many again not ringed. No redpoll at the moment. Marsh Tit is about on the fat balls and mixed seed.

    Brilliant day in the back garden. Visit by Luke culminated in the usual finches, tits and a nuthatch, plus a Marsh Tit and a Blackcap that appeared in my garden yesterday. 70 birds, including 43 blue tits, finished off by a visit from a female sparrowhawk. :-)

    My feeders getting busy, goldfinches, chaffinches, great, blue and coal tits, robins, dunnock, and a lone brambling. BTW Autumnwatch was brill for the feeder info. Next week is the ultimate...Autumnwatch, Kate Humble, Iolo Williams, sea trout. We will be in heaven!

    Brown Pelican, Magnificent Frigate Bird, Snowy Egret, Brandt Cormorant, Turquoise Browed Motmot, Yellow Tailed Oriele, Great Tailed Grackles, Caspian Terns.... ... garden's full of juv blue tits, great tits and robins.

    Thanks everyone for your help. I was just a tourist... Sglynas, 120 steps in 40+ heat and 99% humidity in Yucatan Jungle was a killer, but watching Magnificent Frigate Birds picking fry out of the surf 3 metres away, was spectacular.

    Luke just popped in after a twitch... very good to see him. Me... nice week so far, Titchfield Haven, Hampshire on Sunday, with breeding med gulls, common tern, Black tailed Godwit galore, avocet and Black Headed Gull chicks and gosling,a and cygnets everywhere. Had a close look at a red kite...
