Identification

- Dark blackish-brown overall plumage (therefore looks black)
- Bright yellow rump, shoulder and underparts
Distribution
South America: found from eastern Paraguay to southern Brazil, Uruguay and northern Argentina
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Marshes, bogs, wet grassland and nearby uplands.
Behaviour
They usually travel around in noisy flocks.
Diet
Their main diet consists of insects, including arthropods and small vertebrates. They will also eat some seeds.
