- Species sexually dimorphic
Distribution
South America: found from tropical eastern Peru south of the Amazon to Bolivia and south-western Amazonian Brazil.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Hypocnemis subflava has two subspecies:[1]
- H. s. subflava'
- Andean foothills of eastern Peru (Huánuco to Cusco)
- H. s. collinsi
Habitat
Rainforest borders and secondary woodland often near water or marshes.
Behaviour
Diet
It gleans for insects in foliage and often picks its prey from the underside of leaves.
Breeding
They are monogamous. Both adults share the incubation of the 2 eggs and subsequent care of the young.
