Identification
28 cm
- Green with scaled appearance to head and nape
- Bluish mid crown and ear-coverts
- Maroon throat, fore-neck and base of tail
- Blue outer wing margins
Similar Species
Cuban Parrot which has more extensive scaling.
Distribution
Caribbean: found only in Jamaica.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Humid limestone forests, mangroves, moist montanes, plantations, and rural gardens. Observed at heights around 2000 m.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes fruits, nuts, seeds, berries, leaf buds and blossoms.
Breeding
They nest in tree holes, often woodpecker cavities.
