Identification

50cm

  • Grey head
  • White hindneck
  • Black upperparts
  • White underparts
  • Grey tail with a very broad, black subterminal band and white tip

Distribution

South America: found in north-eastern Brazil (Pernambuco and Alagoas and a single site in Paraíba).

Taxonomy

This monotypic species[1] has, in the past, been considered a subspecies of Gray-headed Kite.

Habitat

Humid Atlantic forest.
