Alopecoenas hoedtii
Identification
27 cm. Light blue-grey head, grey-white throat, red-brown hindneck, paler on sides of neck, pale cream breast, strongly demarcated from blackish belly, thin shining purple band on breast-sides and carpals, upperparts chestnut. Female - light rusty-chestnut head, neck and breast, and olive-brown upperparts and belly.
Distribution
West Timor and Wetar, Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Formerly placed in genus Gallicolumba.
Habitat
Lowland monsoon forest.
