Distribution

South America: Ecuador south to Bolivia and east, south of the Amazon, to Brazil west of the Madeira River

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.

Habitat

Forest clearings and forest edges.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of insects.

Breeding

They nest in an underground hole.

Vocalisation

Song: a soft whip-whip-wheee, wheeeee
