Distribution

Africa: found in savanna of southern Somalia and eastern Kenya.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Nectarinia chalcomelas was split from Nectarinia pembae (now known as Pemba Sunbird), and has since been moved to the genus Cinnyris.
