Overview
Though Villa Ada is the second biggest park in Rome and very close to the centre, it is still less manicured than other Roman parks. An early start is recommended as the routes get very busy as the day goes on.
The main entrance is on Via Salaria, leads you in to a small valley, which is known by the locals as ‘Squirrel valley’ for the small colony of Red Squirrel that live there. It has a few small pools which in turn run into a large lake at the bottom of the valley.

The area at the back of the park is most productive for birding as it is left a little wilder.
