Distribution

South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• D. t. hellmayri:

• Andes of eastern Colombia and western Venezuela (south-western Táchira)

• D. t. tyrannina:

• Andes of Colombia to eastern Peru (Cordillera Vilcabamba); a population in La Paz, Bolivia may belong here, or may represent an undescribed subspecies

Habitat

Eastern-slope of the Andes; mid-elevation montane forest (cloud-forest) at ca. 1,900 m (6,234 ft).

Behaviour

Diet

There is little information available. They are, however presumed to be insectivorous. They have occasionally been sighted in mixed species flocks, but usually forage alone.
