Todd's Sirystes - BirdForum Opus

Sirystes subcanescens

Identification

Black crown with a raised crest and grey to white underparts; rump is white or whitish. Similar to a Myiarchus flycatcher in shape.

Distribution

South America: found in the The Guianas and north-eastern Amazonian Brazil.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.

Used to be included in Sirystes.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of larger insects and fruit.
