Identification
19 cm. Two colour-morphs. Most birds pale yellow, mottled with brownish-olive above. Dark morph all dark olive-brown.
Distribution
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
The former subspecies garretti is now included in Society Islands Reed Warbler, longirostris is now split as Moorea Reed Warbler.
Habitat
Bamboo thickets and second growth forests in river valleys and hillsides to 1,700 m.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects, lizards, small fish, crayfish, snails and nectar.
It is believed to breed exclusively in bamboo thickets.
