Gubernetes yetapa

Identification

40 cm long; tail is up to 22 cm long

  • Grey back
  • Blackish wings, with a cinnamon-rufous patch
  • White throat outlined on the sides of the neck and the upper chest by a dark chestnut line

Distribution

South America: found from eastern Bolivia to Paraguay, south-central and south-eastern Brazil and north-eastern Argentina.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Cerrado/dry forest, marshes, near swampy areas, open woodland.

Behaviour

It perches on bushes while searching for its prey.
