Identification

This species has bristles in the loral area and chin which is thought to protect the eyes from damage by thorns, which are frequent in its micro-habitat.

Distribution

Colombia and Panama.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests and montanes.

Behaviour

This species is described as an extreme skulker which few birders have seen unless using a mistnet.
