Distribution
Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and very northernmost Brazil.
Taxonomy
Four subspecies are recognized[1].
- P. g. griseiceps
- western Ecuador (Esmeraldas south to El Oro and western Loja)
- P. g. cristatus
- P. g. caucae
- west central Colombia (upper Cauca Valley)
- P. g. pallidiceps
