Similar to Rusty-backed Antwren but differs in several subtle plumage characters as well as in vocalisation.

Endemic to the Chapada Diamantina region in Brazil.

Taxonomy

Monotypic. Described as recently as 2007.

Habitat

Relatively open, steep habitat characterized by rocky outcrops, usually more than 800 m above sea level.
