South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

- Subtropical Andes of central Peru (Chanchamayo region)
- T. x. lamprotis:
- Andes of south-eastern Peru (Cuzco and Puno) to north-western Bolivia
Habitat
Agricultural land, montane gardens, disturbed secondary montane evergreen forest with ornamentals @ 2,040 m (6,693 ft) elevation. Humid Subtropical Life Zone.
