Clements recognises 5 subspecies[1]
- C. m. murina:
- New Guinea (lowlands throughout, except for the Trans-Fly region); also Salawati and Yapen islands
- C. m. monacha:
- Lowland forests of Aru Islands (New Guinea)
- C. m. pallida:
- Trans-Fly lowlands of south-east New Guinea
- C. m. capitalis:
- Lowland forests of Waigeo and Batanta islands (New Guinea)
- C. m. fumosa:
- Lowland forests of Misool Island (New Guinea)
Habitat
Moist lowland forests and montanes.
Behaviour
Flight
Members of the Acanthizidae family have a characteristic undulating flight path.
