Liosceles thoracicus

Identification

19 cm. Dark grey-brown back, white throat and breast, rusty reddish breast band, black, white, and rusty pattern on their undersides.

Distribution

Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil.

Taxonomy

Three subspecies are recognized1: thoracicus, erithacus, and dugandi.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests.

Behaviour

They build underground nests among the roots of trees.

The diet includes insects.
