- Pionus senilis
Identification
Mostly green with bluish neck including rear part, rear crown, and breast; white chin and front of head to middle of crown. Bluish flight feathers and most of tail, brownish smaller and median wing coverts visible on the sitting bird. Vent area red. Legs, feet, and bill whitish. Juvenile lacking bluish around head and has reduced white on crown.
Similar Species
Blue-headed Parrot overlaps with the southern part of its range.
Distribution
Mexico to western Panama (Chiriqui).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Habitat
Forests and edge, mostly humid forests.
Behaviour
Action
This bird and other members of its genus have distinctive, deep wingbeats, quite different from an Amazona parrot.
