Identification
18.8 - 19cm.
- Grass-green plumage
- Pale cream-yellow eyelid rim and lores
- Creamy yellow wing side
- Cream-yellow chin and throat mergin into bright-yellow green underparts
- Dark horn-coloured bill
Sexes similar. Juveniles undescribed.
Distribution
Endemic to the southern Philippines.
Found on Samar, Leyte, Cebu and Mindanao.
A rare to very rare restricted-range species, probably extinct on Cebu, Samar and Leyte, only few recent records from western Mindanao.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
The described subspecies mindanensis is usually not accepted.
Habitat
Lowland forest. Occurs from 100 to 970m.
Behaviour
No information on diet.
Breeding recorded in June and August. No other information.
A resident species.
