Distribution

Southeast Asia: endemic to the Philippines

Taxonomy

Mindoro Bulbul and Visayan Bulbul were formerly included in this species.
All three were formerly placed in genus Ixos

Subspecies[1]

  • H. p. philippinus:
  • Luzon, Marinduque, Catanduanes, Polillo and adjacent small islands
  • H. p. parkesi:
  • H. p. saturatior:
  • Samar, Leyte, Cebu, Bohol and Mindanao and adjacent small islands

Habitat

Forest edge, advanced second growth and forest.
