Identification

14 cm. Warm olive-brown to russet above, especially on tail. Yellow below, olive across breast and flanks.

Distribution

Burundi, Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

Taxonomy

Chloropeta gracilirostris has two subspecies:2

  • C. g. gracilirostris
  • C. g. bensoni
  • North-eastern Zambia (mouth of Luapula River)

Formerly placed in genus Chloropeta.

Habitat

Papyrus swamps.

Status

Classified as Vulnerable in the 2008 IUCN Red List.1

Behaviour

The diet includes insects.
