Identification

Similar Species

Very similar to some Africam Citrils (brittoni and female kikuyuensis), which can also inhabit papyrus swamps, but the bill is stubbier and more curved.

Distribution

Central Africa
Western Africa: found only in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo
Eastern Africa: western Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].
Placed in genus Serinus by Clements.

Habitat

Papyrus swamps and surrounding agricultural land, particularly sorghum
