Indicator meliphilus

Distribution

Africa:
Western Africa: occurs only in DRC and Angola
Eastern Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi
Southern Africa: found only in Zimbabwe

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are two subspecies^[1]:

• I. m. meliphilus:

• Eastern Uganda and central and southeastern Kenya to northeastern Tanzania

• I. m. angolensis:

• Central Angola to southern Zaire, southern Malawi, Zimbabwe and central Mozambique

A third subspecies narokensis is generally considered invalid^[2].

Habitat

Riparian forest.
