Hypergerus atriceps

Identification

20 cm. Long tail, strong legs and a long black bill, light olive above, yellow below, black hood. The sexes are similar, but juveniles are duller.

Distribution

Southern Senegal to Cameroon and north DRC.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Dense thickets usually near water.

Behaviour

It builds a large nest suspended from palm leaves.

Its diet includes insects.
